3 tactics for using mobile devices to land your next job

3 strategies for utilizing cell phones to get your next activity 3 strategies for utilizing cell phones to find your next activity Call me outdated. As a recruiting leader, I didnt care to get portable based messages from work searcher for a few reasons. To me, the methodology appeared to be the path of least resistance, something jobseekers were doing while at the same time driving or staring at the TV. There were definitely grammatical mistakes, utilization of THX, and no mark hinder with contact data. I felt that I wouldnt need the utilizing that gadget to react to clients and administrators. In any case, Im gradually coming around to what's to come. To assist me with learning a portion of the stunts of versatile pursuit of employment and enrolling, I asked a master. Kimberley Kasper, Chief Marketing Officer at Jobvite was benevolent enough to share a few thoughts regarding how work searchers can best utilize cell phones to find their next employments. Here are her main three proposals: 1. Dont let another person take your fantasy work Envision that youre in a gathering and you get an alarm illuminating you regarding an employment opportunity at your fantasy organization. In only a couple of taps of your cell phone, you could have rounded out and presented an employment form before different applicants competing for a similar profession change even check their workstations. While I cannot excuse work looking while at work, you can perceive how having the option to pursuit of employment consistently implies pushing out the opposition. With such a significant number of qualified laborers scanning for occupations, a consistently on mentality is basic to defeating the following serious up-and-comer. The advantages of utilizing versatile in your pursuit of employment are self-evident: whenever, anyplace, you can remain connected to your quest for new employment, demolishing the individuals who are faithful to their workstations. Be that as it may, having your cell phone convenient isnt enough to have a serious edge in your pursuit of employment, you should be clever with your activity looking through strategies. Without the capacity to rapidly transfer and present a list of references or introductory letter, theres no chance you can arrive first. Store an assortment of list of qualifications and archives in a Dropbox application or Google drive on your cell phone for simple access, so you can apply rapidly and effectively to comparative jobs that have various titles. In that equivalent vein, keep your LinkedIn profile as current as conceivable with data on who you seem to be, the reason youre a fit and what youve conveyed before. At long last, youre applying to occupations on portable since it is simple and effective, so ensure your technique encourages that. On the off chance that youre not readied, your associate on their cell phone will without a doubt beat you to it. 2. You can pass judgment superficially Its no mystery that were spending an ever increasing number of hours at work nowadays. Truth be told, the normal American workday is fundamentally longer than the customary eight hours were utilized to, and were just expecting work duties to increment. Therefore, enrollment specialists are employing much more for culture fit. In the event that would have been investing additional time and vitality at work, it should be with individuals who have similar needs, isn't that so? As a vocation searcher, a workplace that lines up with your needs is basic to an amicable match. Yet, how might you know what an organization resembles all things considered? While a few inquiries should be replied by a questioner, investigate their profession site for some understanding into the companys pledge to development. In the event that the organization has a portable situated profession site, they are on the main edge of innovation. Invest energy experiencing different pages on their site to figure out how ground breaking they truly are. 3. Is it accurate to say that you are catching enrollment specialists eye? In this market, work searchers arent the main ones continually on the chase. With such a shortage in high-caliber, qualified individuals, finding the correct competitor resembles scanning for a tough to find little item. So when extraordinary applicants go along, selection representatives are prepared to jump. While getting many reactions to a particular post, the initial 20 list of references may be the most eminent. On the off chance that youre not snappy, in any case, yours risks turning out to be repetitive sound. All things considered, most selection representatives spend a normal of six seconds on your list of qualifications, so figuring out how to stand apart has never been progressively vital. This is actually where portable comes in. On the off chance that getting your list of qualifications before an enrollment specialists eyes rapidly is the way to grabbing the ideal employment, versatile encourages that ten times. A considerable lot of us as of now spend more than over two hours out of every day on our cell phones, so on the off chance that you wind up checking Facebook versatile or playing Candy Crush, change your daily practice and be proactive. Be the first to go after a position, right when the posting shows up, by checking versatile profession locales, pursuing cautions, and keeping steady over your application status. Additionally, take a stab at applying mid-evening since messages will in general heap up for the time being. When all is said in done, be proficient and insightful about which gadget you use for every part of your pursuit of employment. Dont race to push something amateurish out on your cell phone when you can sparkle more brilliant from your PC or work area.

The ultimate student guide to creating a personal brand - Debut

A definitive understudy manual for making an individual brand - Debut This post is composed by an individual from the Debut Student Publisher Network. Peruse on for Hirans epic manual for making an individual brand at uni trust us, youll need to be bookmarking this. Im assuming youre the yearning type. The understudy who thinks Uhh, I think Ill alumni and find a new line of work some place wouldnt have clicked on this article. Theyll be trusting that something will fall into their lap (SPOILER: nothing does.) Not you. Youre most likely busier than your companions. Youve know a degree isnt going to be sufficient to get the fantasy vocation you need. Youre reading this in light of the fact that you need to stick out and are searching for approaches to do it. So, Im not going to belittle you. Heres some real exhortation on the most proficient method to build up an individual brand while youre a student. Let me separate it in 10 sensible advances and holla at me when youre done. Im eager to hear it. 1. Get your online life working for you Separate the negative/hostile/humiliating bits of substance on your web based life. Stow away, privatize or expel anything related to drugs, alcohol or those humiliating Freshers photographs from first year. Before you begin saying, Im not going to change who I am for a jobblah, consider those chat pics following you around in five years time. Its not lovely right? Initial introductions are super important. Remember this is how strangers will see you. Your profiles will be seen in all probability by recruiters and, all the more critically, by future companions and systems. You need to show your best bits, so learn to cultivate. Then modify your URLs. It may take a day or two, however it will pay off. 2. It should be precisely what it says on the tin Falsehoods are one of only a handful not many things that can harm a brand, so recount to your story honestly. If I asked you, I am certain you could ring off a rundown of five people who act and look totally changed IRL to how they are seen via web-based networking media. While this hauls individuals in, its a colossal no-no. Be bona fide. Individual brands are supposed to be pliant and changeable. The 20-year-old you wasnt equivalent to the 10-year-old you, and will be totally extraordinary to the 30-year-old you. Print out and stick this one-pager up on your divider to keep you steady, yet its alright to develop, adjust and alter your perspective. When you have your image esteems as a top priority, you are prepared to begin sharing. 3. Offer substance and make discussion Start by following and loving records that impact you and collaborate with them. The best way to remain important is to be pertinent, all things considered. Twitter is extraordinary for this. As Im intrigued in design, I follow and normally draw in with Logo Geek, Its Nice That and Business Insider. Develop your certainty by observing what is out there. At that point start making unique substance. This is what will get you on that first page of Google. Write for your understudy paper, start a YouTube account, fund-raise for a noble cause, engage in chipping in these things are normally shareable. Perhaps manufacture an individual site. 4. Start early, become a BNOC Devote yourself completely to the same number of things as possible. I joined 20 social orders and associations each time of uni, rounding out most nighttimes, just to take a stab at something new. I became more acquainted with loads of individuals, and regardless of whether I never returned, it was a Facebook association that I transformed into something else. Being known (for the correct reasons) implies youre recounting to a convincing story. In the event that youre the blogger fellow, or the video gamer young lady, and that is the thing that you set your image out as, at that point youre working superbly. Individuals remember you by your talent. Find those individuals and converse with them theyre most likely simply like you. 5. Celebrate your specialty Discover something you are acceptable at and make yourself amazing. If you are sufficiently sure to show the procedure (imperfections and everything!) that can be truly compelling. Seth Godin is incredible at clarifying this. Find extraordinary individuals to gain from. Welcome them to support you. Team up. Commit errors. Urge individuals to remark and critique. Put yourself out there. Follow the perfect individuals, find that specialty and endeavor it to get them engaged. If you are truly inspired by music, or craftsmanship, or legislative issues, at that point the odds are that your companions will have comparable or restricting views. At college, you have understudies with the time and vitality to submit with next to no close to home misfortune, so try things out and put it all on the line. 6. Advance yourself without annoying individuals Take the show, dont tell approach. Everybody consistently fears self-advancement, yet it is unavoidable. And there are ways to do it without individuals thinking youre an all out butt face. Try to be charitable, use humor and now and then self-belittling can work truly well. Just dont talk about yourself all the timeno one enjoys it face to face, dont do it on the web. Offer different people groups posts which line up with your brand, and youll be amazed how rapidly they will respond. College is really an incredible chance to do it, because everyone is advancing something. A club night, a general public occasion or even an alumni position everyones wearing a logo on their hoodies nowadays. Utilize this for your potential benefit. 7. Systems administration is conversing with a reason Each discussion has gold residue potential. Most individuals are truly scared with the word organizing yet it is absolutely discussion with a purpose. It is about point of view and beginning right. Dont simply talk at individuals be happy to tune in and comprehend what they are used to the more you identify, more understudies are eager to tune in. Establish connections with individuals you havent met yet. Most of the time, your image is created when you arent even there. When individuals notice your name, what might you like them to hear? Record these qualities and bring them into your patter. Be certain, down to earth and satisfy your vows to individuals. Make them giggle and smile. They are considerably more prone to believe you in the event that they really like you. 8. Put everything in one spot Dive in and make an individual website. In the most recent five years, Ive had two and here is my infant right now. At the point when anybody asks me what I do, it is so cool to guide them toward my little corner of the web. Space names and facilitating are quite modest nowadays, and you can even recruit somebody to make the entire thing for you. As an understudy, it will make you stand out in a split second and show you are not kidding. Youll truly never look back. I realize it sounds unusual, however having an individual site drives you to keep your own image new. It implies that you have to compose writes continually, update the activities you are dealing with and make your CV look cleaned constantly. I promise it will be your proudest thing and youll be sharing it day by day. 9. Notoriety is everything You as of now have everything at your feet to play with. If you went to a decent school, got a degree from an extraordinary college, ascended a mountain, raised a boatload for a noble cause, began a business or accomplished something amazing you are as of now in the great minority. Your story is already convincing. Presently, mention to me what it is in a convincing manner. Lift your notoriety from working with incredible brands. Ensure you just like and offer individuals that line up with your own values. Every image you work with is an implied underwriting, so be very cautious. Indeed, even famous people miss the point and they are dependent on their own brands. The ubiquity of influencer marketing means that greater brands are seeking imaginative understudies for more prominent impact. It couldnt be a superior chance to have an individual brand. 10. Concentrate on the comprehensive view Dont be tricked by present moment syndrome. Dont surrender to the enticement that everything must be lived in the current you CAN begin working for the future now and you shouldnt be embarrassed to begin. It is anything but difficult to get hindered in evaluations and things that occur at uni, however there is a major world out there. Set aside the effort to choose what you need to do and how you can arrive. It will be an incredible head start. What kind of individual would you really like to be? This is an individual procedure. It is safe to say that you are the sort of individual to put things off? Is your compulsiveness easing back you down? Are you indiscreet? Do you convey on your guarantees? Can individuals trust you? In the end, the individual you choose to be has the greatest effect on your future. These are the things that individuals will recollect you by, and the choice to make yourself noteworthy, is completely yours. On the off chance that youve done these things well, the litmus test will be that individuals come back. They will commend your accomplishments and need to be a piece of your system. People like Kim Kardashian, Barack Obama and Justin Bieber have amazing brands which are infectious for most people. All of them convey something that we return for, time and time once more, and we get tied up with them consistently. There is nothing halting you being the following. Highlight picture © e-lawyer.com Download the Debut application and you could absolutely get yourself a mid year internship way before any other person. Office Design Ideas For Burning The Midnight Oil

Office Design Ideas For Burning The Midnight Oil There is no rest for the universes of business, account and exchange. Furthermore, for what reason ought to there be, the point at which we have programming and innovation that permits us to work constantly. Literally, the world is currently working nonstop, the entire day and night like never before in mankind's history. At the point when you have such a great amount of help from programming and coordinated interfaces, you can connect all the phases of business together without a moment's delay. Business structures are presently completely used to having laborers go all through the premises during the night. Truth be told representatives that work during the night are similarly as occupied as laborers during the day, yet with marginally less weight. They can get the show on the road for the next morning or simply keep it moving from the past night. As a business head, ask yourself how you are making an adaptable domain that permits workers to consume the 12 PM oil and not feel as th ough they are caught in an office throughout the night. This is significant in light of the fact that daytime has finished and albeit a large portion of the world it appears is snoozing, they're completely wakeful and attempting to complete ordinary work. Waterproofing light Espresso is the fuel of the business world. At the point when you're plunking down gazing at a PC screen, contemplating measurements of the world economy, searching for examples and principles being met in the marketing projections, going over agreement terms and conditions, satisfying new requests and fixing client grievances throughout the night, you will require a new cup of Joe. Getting up and heading off to the kitchen zone or espresso machine to get yourself a new portion of caffeine shouldn't be full of any threat. In any case, there is, on the grounds that its dull and for the most part, representatives won't keep the roof lights on in the event that they're working late around evening time. 5 hot vacation spots you can squeeze into a long weekend

5 hot excursion spots you can crush into a long end of the week 5 hot excursion spots you can press into a long end of the week Get some espresso or tea (I favor Matcha), and sit down. You'll need to be sitting, since you might just be here for some time, booking flights and convenience long after you read This.you have a long end of the week in front of you, and you're presumably envisioning some sun-wrapped break from your work area, maybe under palm trees on a blondie sea shore some place remote. Perhaps you're a winter sports devotee, and snowcapped mountains are enticing. Whatever the case, you have around three or four days - and you'll need to capitalize on those days without investing an excessive amount of energy traveling. With that stated, here are six noteworthy get-away spots that you can fit into a long weekend.1. Vail, ColoradoVail, Colorado baits weekenders throughout the entire year. The ski town is loaded with fine slants that snake their way through iced foliage and straightforwardly down to the entryways of hot cabins presenting privately prepared lagers and hot cocoa. In the colder months, your mornings will be spent riding, and your evenings will be spent in obvious après-ski fashion. And in the event that you invest energy in Vail during the hotter months, the climate will hush around the mid-70s to the mid-80s with low moistness - ideal for day climbs, mountain biking and waterway tubing through the woods that paint the skyline yellows and oranges. Truth be told, Colorado flaunts 53 fourteeners (more than some other state), a large number of which are in Vail. Two for thought incorporate Grays Peak (14,278 feet) and Quandary Peak (14,265 feet).2. Montreal, Quebec, CanadaMontreal, the biggest city in Canada's Quebec region, is a simple drive for those on the east coast and a not really appallingly long trip for those on the west coast. Motivational story about overcoming obstacles - Hallie Crawford

Motivational story about overcoming obstacles - Hallie Crawford A friend of mine told me about a motivational story that was truly inspiring to me. It was about a man, Jeff Glasbrenner, who was training to complete his 8th Ironman championship in just 8 months.  While that sounds like a feat in its own, whats really motivating is the fact that he has one leg.  An Ironman competition includes a 2.4 mile swim, then a 112 mile bike ride and at the end a  marathon of 26.2 miles. When discussing the event that led to the loss of the bottom part of his leg  at 8 years old he says of the event: “I look at it as my greatest opportunity. I look at it as a life-changing event and you can either embrace it or just kind of fall by the wayside.” His motivation for competing in the Ironman events is his children. He says:  â€œI just really want to be a role model for my two children and others. If they believe it in here [their heads] and in here [their hearts], no matter what obstacles are in front of them, they can get to that finish line. That’s the reason why I really want to do it.” I loved reading his story because he is so positive and has created goals for him that he is proud of, and he is able to overcoming his obstacles (of having one fully operational leg) and achieve them.  No matter what your story is, use the New Year as a time to examine yourself and your job search. Having the right outlook is key to determining where obstacles will lead you. “Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” -Bernice Johnson Reagon Here are three quick tips on helping you to overcome your obstacles in your job search: 1. Be committed and walk your talk. You have to be 100% committed to overcoming your obstacles; it cant be all talk. 2. Learn from disappointment. If you dont land the first job you go for, dont let that stop you. Disappointment is part of life. Keep going. Learn from the experience and turn the disappointment into motivation or determination to find another job. 3. Turn obstacles into challenges to conquer and overcome. Whats getting in the way of you landing your ideal job (salary, experience, etc.)? Dont sit and mope. Figure out your next move. Final thought: The people I know who are successful in finding a career they love, are not people who avoided failure or didnt have obstacles â€" but people who knew how to overcome those failures and obstacles!! The Apprentice UK - Week 3 - Not so Sweet for Oliver

The Apprentice UK - Week 3 - Not so Sweet for Oliver The Apprentice UK Week 3 Not so Sweet for Oliver Image Source: BBCANOTHER week down, and another candidate bites the dust. The Apprentice UK Week 3 began in sweetness and light on the stage set of Charlie The Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where candidates were assigned a confectionery manufacture and selling task. But the project had a bitter after-taste for Oliver Nohl-Oser, who was fired for his “indecisive” management of the losing team. A somewhat hazardous excursion on a candy-vending bicycle may not have aided poor Oliver’s chances either.IMAGE SOURCE: BBC (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Task Corporate CandyTHE candidates were tasked with the design and manufacture of their own brand of sweets, before heading to Brighton to sell them, to the public on the street, and to selected corporate clients. For the first time in this series of The Apprentice UK, after realigning the previously previously gender-specific membership of the teams, Lord Sugar appointed Alana Spencer as h ead of Team Titans, and Oliver to manage Team Nebula.Image Source: BBCThere were a number of mishaps suffered by both sidesâ€"including manufacturing chaos that threatened to overwhelm both project managers. There was a deeply cringeworthy scene  in the boardroom of Brighton Hove Albion FC when Sofiane came on much too strong in his attempt to raise the club officials’ spending ceiling by £100.Video Source: BBC on YouTubeIn the end, after the usual dramas and occasional comedy of errorsâ€"including mishaps with pricing, Oliver almost crashing the candy-vending display bicycle in his attempts to “create a buzz” on the streets, and Paul Sullivan and Mukai Noiri engaging in fiery words due to the failure to sell any of their Team Nebula sub-group’s share of salt and vinegar fudgeâ€"Alana’s Team Titans triumphed, managing to offset their more expensive ingredients with a higher volume of sales to bring home a profit of £785.66 to Nebula’s £615.08.Characters to Watch (ad sbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Aleksandra KingIMAGE SOURCE: BBCAleksandra pitched herself originally as being like the “Tasmanian devil” who would “torpedo my way through to win”, but on the Week 3 task, she made a number of blundersâ€"forgetting prices and miscalculating ordersâ€"in the trade sales that dented her credibility. She is now on Lord Sugar’s radar and will need to up her game to recover.Mukai NoiriIMAGE SOURCE: BBCMUKAI found himself in the final three of the losing team for the second week in succession, but he managed to deflect any serious attention to his own shortcomings by talking up the failure of project leader Oliver on price strategy, and on a productâ€"salt and vinegar fudgeâ€"that he described as “unappealing”. However, Karren Brady has noticed his air of “superiority” that rubs the other candidates the wrong way, and Lord Sugar too was balancing Mukai’s performance against the claims on the 36-year-old’s CV. “I am th is close,” Lord Sugar warned him, before drawing back and allowing Mukai to return to the house and remain in the process. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Paul SullivanIMAGE SOURCE: bbcThe 38-year old CEO and head of marketing at DMA UK registered zero sales on the task, and Karren Brady raised question marks over his temperament, not factors likely to endear him to Lord Sugar in the future. On The Apprentice: Youre Fired, guest panelist Susan Calman said she thought that Paul was a “controlling” influence who was playing a tactical game, suggesting that Paul had cleverly manipulated Oliver and ultimately left the project manager in the firing line. Obviously, only Paul can answer these claims, but any further lapses in temperamentâ€"and repeated zero sales recordsâ€"are likely to put him squarely in Lord Sugar’s sights in future installments of this season of The Apprentice UK. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Wisdom of Lord SugarP erhaps because the performance of the teams was something of a recovery after the debacle of the denim promotional task in Week 2, Lord Sugar was not in quite the same combative mood as a week earlier. There were some classic burns dealt out in vintage style… but most of them were reserved for dispatched losing project manager Oliver.• “Sugar is bad for you, and this Sugar is gonna be very bad for one of you, I can tell you…” â€" a cheerful entrance to the boardroom• “Yeah…” â€" a dead-eyed response to Oliver’s attempts to talk up Team Titans’ choice of the brand name, ‘Suck It Sea’.• “Was you a Willy Wonka, then, or was you an Oompa-Loompah?” â€" inquiring of Oliver’s project management skills in the kitchen• “Your future is looking as bright as one of your pigs…” â€" summing up sausage manufacturer Oliver’s chances of surviving the boardroom• “Your best chance of two-hundred-and-fifty grand is to buy a scratch cardâ€"you’re fired. ” â€" dispatching Oliver from the boardroom.Firing Oliver… the Right Call?Image Source: BBCThere’s a mixture of views on this one. The panel on weekly aftershow The Apprentice: You’re Fired thought there were other candidates who were more deserving of Lord Sugar’s damning verdict. The audience on the other hand were more decisive with a show of red “Fired” cards. “I imagine you’re seeing green, but no, that’s red!” host Rhod Gilbert told Oliver.Interestingly, Oliver had another view. He thought that all the final threeâ€"himself, Mukai and Paulâ€"should have been red-carded. “If I was Lord Sugar, I would have fired all three of us. We all had a part to play in it,” he said. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Looking Ahead to  Week 4After a relatively quiet Week 3, it looks as if Karthik is set to return to centre-stage in the next task for the candidates in The Apprentice UK. The teams are assigned to take over part of the world-famous dep artment store Liberty of London, where they will promote and sell a new product line, and run a personal shopping service for the ultra discerning clientele of the establishment.VIDEO SOURCE: BBC ON YOUTUBEHowever, Claude Littner’s good humour in this clip should not be taken as an indication that all will go well. “I just don’t get it!” Lord Sugar’s associate exclaims to camera at one point. All will be revealed on The Apprentice UK next week, and as ever, AGENT can hardly wait. The Apprentice UK is broadcast Thursdays 9-10pm on BBC One, followed by The Apprentice: You’re Fired, hosted by Rhod Gilbert, on BBC Two, 10-10.30pm.

Would the 5-year-old me be pleased with the present me? This question, from Deepak Mehta, is a cunning method of verifying that you've remained consistent with your guiding principle. Here's one point to consider: Your more youthful self wasn't anxious about thinking ambitiously. He couldn't have cared less if something was un-reachable or unreasonable. Shouldn't something be said about you now? Have you settled on those fantasies? It's like something Gretchen Rubin told Business Insider: Before you switch professions, recall what you jumped at the chance to accomplish for the sake of entertainment as a child. Envision yourself being an extremely renowned individual 10 years down the line. What do you figure you may have accomplished that put you on the map? Asparah Achar writes that, regardless of whether your answer is I'd be a writer or I'd be a business visionary, it'll give you some lucidity concerning what objective you ought to be seeking after. At that point, she says, you can begin asking follow-up inquiries, for example, Am I doing what's necessary today that I'll accomplish what I try to turn into? What's the thing keeping me down? What is that primary concern that is shielding you from pushing ahead and who can assist you with cutting the chain? writes Vinita Punjabi. Possibly it's a general dread of disappointment; or perhaps it's something progressively explicit and effectively conquerable, as not realizing how to compose a strong introductory letter. Whatever it is, recognizing the issue will bring you once step nearer to disposing of it. This article was initially distributed on BusinessInsider.com.

Six things productive people do every day

Six things productive people do every day by Amber Rolfe Can’t seem to get things done? Stop saying yes…  Whether you’re easily distracted, you tend to bite off more than you can chew, or you think overworking is the answer, the way you currently deal with tasks might mean you often struggle to get much done.To help make the most of your time, here are six things productive people do every day (that you should start doing right now):They focus on one thing at a timeEven if you’re the best multitasker on the planet, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re productive. And although work might be getting done using this tactic, it’s probably not going to be completed to the best of your abilities. After all, splitting your attention over four things equals to only quarter of your effort going in â€" meaning the likelihood of mistakes increases, and your standards slipping. So instead of trying to juggle as much as possible, prioritise your tasks and do them one-by-one. Not only will your productivity improve, you might also find that procrastination is less tempting.Because switching through various tabs, emails, and texts all day isn’t getting anything done…  They say noProductive people are rarely labelled as ‘yes men/women’.Instead, when they say they’ll do something, they actually follow through â€" meaning a ‘yes’ only comes after they’ve fully assessed their workload. And, potentially, they might have to say ‘no’ to a few requests if they haven’t got time to take a task on.Unfortunately, someone who says yes on impulse is unlikely to be productive in the long-run. Their intentions might be good, but they’re not necessarily realistic about their goals. They don’t take things too seriouslyOverthinking. Over-criticising. Overworking.People who spend most of their time on any (or all) of the above are in danger of jeopardising their productivity without even realising it. And although you might picture a productive person as a serious over-worker with an inability to switch off, it’s actually almost the exact opposite.Knowing when to relax is the best way to give yourself a break when you need it â€" instead of beating yourself up or trudging on even though your mindset isn’t quite up to the job. After all, mistakes are human nature, and the only way to maintain productivity is to actually learn from them and move on.They take care of themselvesWhether it’s from getting enough sleep, organising tasks, or just eating right and exercising, productive people are generally fuelled by their own well-being.In fact, a large part of productivity comes down to whether you can actually concentrate on the task at hand, and if you’re tired, overworked, and/or hungry (see also: hangry) â€" working is likely to be the last thing on your mind.Instead, procrastination will be an inevitability. No matter how much you think you can keep running on empty.Six ways to beat procrastination  They know what’s importantProductive people don’t ‘kill time ’.Instead, they use it wisely â€" by reserving it for the most important tasks.Because knowing how to prioritise tasks effectively and understand which ones have the highest sense of urgency is the key to being a productive worker. To put things into perspective, ask yourself if your time could be spent better on other things before you start a task, and if the answer is yes, you know what to do.N.B. checking your emails every five minutes should never be number one on your to-do-list…They work backwardsSometimes, productivity simply comes down to being able to look towards the future. The most productive people will take time to set clear goals in place first, and work backwards to achieve them â€" with the outcome in mind. Then, they’ll be able to break their workload down into doable steps that will help them to succeed in the long run.Not only does this work ethic mean that everything you do has a clear purpose, it also means you’re far more likely to be motivated to actua lly do it.Remember: it’s not just about what you do, it’s about why you do it.  Still searching for your perfect position? Look Beautiful at Work Makeup You Can Wear to the Office

Look Beautiful at Work Makeup You Can Wear to the Office Expressing yourself can be difficult at your work place, especially if there is a dress code or you’re only allowed to wear certain types of makeup. Expressing yourself can be difficult at your work place, especially if there is a dress code or you’re only allowed to wear certain types of makeup. You may feel frustrated that you can’t wear blue eye liner or have pink streaks in your hair when you love being yourself. Even though wearing bright and bold makeup is out of the question (except for during the weekends), there are other ways you can allow your beauty to shine through. Consider wearing natural and lovely makeup that will still compliment your every day look without tempting you to go against the rules that are set in place at work.   Wear Waterproof Mascara Waterproof mascara is an incredible beauty product because it’s long lasting. If you go with a vegan brand like tarte, you won’t have to worry about getting styes in your eyes or having your mascara run while you’re at work. Stick with a recommended mascara brand and the best waterproof mascara there is and your eyes will look full and beautiful all day long.   Full Coverage Foundation If you’re looking for a foundation that feels great on your skin and looks natural too, invest in a full coverage foundation. An oil-free, 12-hour liquid foundation is easy to apply and will look smooth and brighten your face. What’s better yet is you don’t have to wear additional foundation over a liquid foundation because it will blend in with your skin beautifully.   Matte Eyeshadow Palette Sticking with neutral tones for your eyeshadow while you’re at work is a wise decision. Don’t feel discouraged that you can only wear neutrals because you can still have a lot of fun playing with neutral shadows as you apply them on your eyelids. A matte eyeshadow palette that’s clay infused with rich matte shades are beautifully diverse and will look gorgeous on your eyelids.   Lip Tint Your lips need to stay moist while you’re in the office and still have some color too. A lip tint will work on both needs simultaneously by providing moisture and the right amount of color. What’s more, a long lasting lip tint will stay on your lips throughout the day while you’re at meetings or chatting with a cute co-worker. Who says wearing neutral and cruelty-free makeup at your work place can’t be just as trendy and stylish as wearing bright makeup and pink highlights in your hair?! At the end of the day, put your best face forward by looking polished and confident. Thats a make-up guideline that cant do you wrong!

5 Ways to Protect Personal Finances as a Business Owner -

5 Ways to Protect Personal Finances as a Business Owner - As a business owner, you may be prioritizing your business finances over your personal finances to ensure the success of your business. However, in order to have a stable lifestyle and support your family, you should know the best ways to protect your personal finances even as a business owner. This is especially important if you have used your personal finances in order to fund your business’s start-up potential. Consolidate Debt If you have used your personal finances to help pay for your business and this has left you in debt, the best action that you can take is to consolidate your debt. This can help to protect your personal finances in the future by allowing you to focus only on one bill each month, enabling you to pay this back easier and lowering the interest that you have to pay. You can consolidate your personal debt by taking out small loans, which you will then repay on a monthly basis, helping you through the difficult initial period of setting up a business. Set Up a Retirement Fund You can also protect your personal finances as a business owner by deciding to set up a retirement fund. Many business owners believe that they are not entitled to a retirement fund due to the fact that they are not employed, or believe that they will not be able to pay enough into this fund to make it worthwhile. However, there is a great variety of pension plans available that allow you to donate as much or as little as you would like each month. You should make sure that this retirement fund reflects your current financial situation, donating more into the fund when you are in profit. This will help to protect your personal finance if your business goes bust or if you are unable to run it during old age. Contact a Financial Advisor You can also protect your personal finances by contacting a financial advisor who can discuss with you any areas of your personal and business finances which are dragging on your ability to support your family. They will help to give you advice on how to run your business while supporting your family, such as separating your personal and business finances, and areas of expenditure that you are able to cut down on. Invest in Insurance Business owners should also invest in business insurance with a reputable brand such as AXA.  This can help to protect your personal wealth and your family by ensuring that if there are claims made against your business, or if it gets damaged, this will not affect your personal finances as the insurance will be able to cover the expenses necessary, such as legal aid. You should also make sure that you never use personal assets such as your house as collateral for your business. Create an Emergency Fund However, even if you follow all of these tips, it is possible that your business could put a strain on your personal assets in the future. If this occurs, you should have an emergency fund of over three months profits to ensure that you can stabilize your finances during this difficult time.

Keep a Career Journal

Keep a Career Journal Embed from Getty Imageswindow.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'ng31wh5vRA1-LrpgxpxEqg',sig:'sqOZSlBxDEUa-EtvoQ5i5BbK-R5rWZ_oGabi3Wd7wAE=',w:'507px',h:'338px',items:'509259937',caption: false ,tld:'com',is360: false })}); I recommend that professionals keep a career journal as a way to remember your accomplishments and outcomes over the year. You can also use it to record goals and measure your progress on them. Why write these things down, you might ask? Surely I can remember the big things I accomplished. You’d be surprised at how faulty your memory is for the current year, let alone three years ago. The serial position effect is the tendency to recall the first and last items in a series best, and the middle items worst. (June may be lost in the shuffle.) The term was coined by Hermann Ebbinghaus, who discovered that recall accuracy varies as a function of an items position within a study list. When asked to recall a list of items in any order (free recall), people tend to begin recall with the end of the list, recalling those items best (which is called the recency effect.) Among earlier list items, the first few items are recalled more frequently than the middle items (called the primacy effect.) So you may have trouble recalling, and your manager will certainly have trouble recalling on your behalf. Keeping a career journal will help you understand why you feel what you do about your job. Keeping track of your good days and bad days can be helpful in making career decisions. If the majority of your entries are about projects being delayed, discord among team members, or funding cuts, you may be justified in consider a move to another company. Not sure what to write? Randall S. Hansen, Ph.D., writing for LiveCareer.com, suggests these entries: Analyzing your current situation Brainstorming about your future career goals; seeing yourself in 5 years, in 10 years Establishing daily or weekly career-related objectives or tasks Developing action plans to achieve your objectives and tasks Keeping track of your daily career-related achievements, progress Making checklists to keep your progress moving forward Discovering and exploring your workplace values Writing a personal mission statement Preparing a SWOT (strengths-weakness-opportunities-threats) analysis Recording key information, such as network contacts, informational interviews, accomplishments, job interview results, etc. Expressing your reactions to job and career success and failures Writing and polishing your key job correspondence material â€" cover letters, resumes, thank you letters, etc. Practicing job interview questions â€" and answers Gathering salary information; conducting salary research Developing plans for achieving promotions Strategizing methods to get a larger raise, bonus, other compensation or benefits Preparing for job performance reviews Marketing yourself within the company Exploring whether further education or training will fast-track your career Your journal will be a great way to build your case for a raise. There are really only two reasons for a manager to justify a pay raise: increased value to the company (a bigger role or more valuable skill set) or an adjustment to meet current market value for your role. Either way, it’s your job to collect the data and package it for your boss to consider. It’s important to make your case on data and not personal needs or wants. You can certainly use pen and paper for your journal, but I recommend an online tool such as Evernote or a document stored in Dropbox for easy anywhere access. Having your entries stored digitally allows you to cut and paste them into email or your resume. Your journal can also be a place to explore ideas for the future: articles you want to write, future career plans, even starting your own business. Researchers have found that people who write down their goals accomplish significantly more than those who do not write down their goals. 2017 could be your biggest year yet â€" write that down!
